How to Remove a CD/DVD Drive From a Laptop
Laptops use special slim CD/DVD internal drives. Those optical drives are simply inserted in the respective laptop slot and fastened with screws. You often may need to remove the CD/DVD drive from your laptop in order to swap for a better drive or replace a failed one. On some laptop models, you can also install another hard drive instead of an optical drive.

Instructions

Turn off your laptop.

Insert an edge of a paper clip into the emergency eject hole of the DVD drive to open it.
